POSH awareness and IC-member training — s.19

We deliver two distinct POSH training tracks under s.19: employee awareness sessions for the general workforce, and separate IC-member capacity training for Presiding Officers, internal members, and external members. Onsite across Delhi NCR; online pan-India.

Entry 01 · Applicability

Does this apply to us?

Contractors and agency staff

Contract and agency personnel working at your premises fall within the Act's awareness obligation; we include them in scope when confirmed at engagement.

Interns

Interns are covered regardless of the length of their engagement; awareness sessions should not exclude them because their tenure is short.

Remote and hybrid staff

Awareness programmes extend to remote and WFH employees; delivery mode for a distributed team is agreed at scoping — see delivery mode below.

Multiple branches

Each office or administrative unit constitutes its own IC, so awareness scheduling is coordinated per branch rather than once for the whole organisation.

Fewer than 10 employees

Employers below the 10-employee threshold sit outside the in-house IC requirement and fall under a Local Committee instead; awareness sessions can still be scheduled voluntarily.

New IC members mid-term

A member joining the Committee partway through its term should receive IC-specific training before their first inquiry, not the general employee session.

Entry 02 · Scope

What we deliver

Employee awareness sessions

A general-workforce session under s.19 covering the Act's scope, the complaint process, and the roles of the IC and Local Committee. Delivered onsite across Delhi NCR or online pan-India, in English, Hindi, or a major regional language — Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Kannada, Gujarati, Malayalam, Punjabi and Odia among them — through our external trainer network. Format, duration and group size are confirmed at scoping.

IC-member capacity training

A separate session for Presiding Officers, internal members, and external members, covering the Committee's statutory duties — inquiry procedure, confidentiality, and the timelines at s.11 and s.13. Delivered onsite across Delhi NCR or online pan-India, in English, Hindi, or a major regional language. Format, duration and group size are confirmed at scoping.

Both tracks conclude with a written attendance record; the IC-member track can be paired with the external member's signed confidentiality undertaking where that appointment is being handled at the same time.

On certification

No government or statutory body in India certifies POSH trainers — the certification market here is a private one, and any claim to official recognition should be read with that in mind. Our trainers hold the NIST certification (National Institute of Skills Training) — a private awarding body's mark, not a government or statutory one. We set out why this vacuum exists and what it means for buyers in our article on the certification vacuum. Trainer credentials can be checked at verify.

Entry 04 · Delivery

Who delivers it

Sessions are delivered by trainers holding the NIST certification referenced above, named at engagement. IC-member training is delivered by, or alongside, panel members drawn from the same roster used for external member appointments. Full panel details, without photographs or biographies, are listed at our panel.

Price

₹15,000–60,000 per session — depends on track, group size, and mode. Full pricing detail is at pricing.

Entry 06 · Boundaries

What we do not do

  • We do not represent our private certification as a government, statutory, or officially recognised credential.
  • We do not combine employee awareness sessions and IC-member training into a single undifferentiated session — the two audiences have different statutory roles.
  • We do not conduct IC inquiries as part of a training engagement; that is covered under case support.
  • We do not constitute your Internal Committee as part of training; that is a separate engagement under Internal Committee formation.
  • We do not guarantee a specific number of retained participants or session outcomes.
Entry 07 · FAQ

Frequently asked

Is POSH trainer certification government-recognised?

No body of the Indian government or statute certifies POSH trainers as a formal credential. Certification in this space is issued by private organisations, including the NIST certification our trainers hold; see our article on the certification vacuum for the fuller picture.

Why are employee and IC-member training separate?

Employee awareness sessions cover general rights and the complaint process; IC-member training covers the Committee's statutory duties under s.11 and s.13, which employees generally do not need and IC members cannot skip.

Do contractors and interns need to attend?

Yes. Contract, agency, and intern personnel working at your premises fall within the Act's awareness obligation and should be included in session scope.

How often should awareness sessions run?

The Act requires awareness programmes at regular intervals rather than a one-time session; cadence is agreed with each employer based on staff turnover and branch structure.

Can training be delivered online?

Yes. Online delivery is available pan-India, across all states and union territories; onsite delivery covers Delhi NCR. The mode for your engagement is confirmed at scoping.

Do remote employees need to attend?

Yes. Remote and hybrid staff are within scope; delivery format for distributed teams is set at the scoping stage.

Does a new external member need this training?

Yes — IC-member training covers the statutory duties the external member takes on, and can be scheduled alongside their appointment and confidentiality undertaking.

Is training required if we have fewer than 10 employees?

The in-house IC requirement does not apply below the 10-employee threshold, and awareness sessions are not mandated in the same way, though many employers below threshold schedule them voluntarily.

What do participants receive?

A written attendance record for the session attended; further materials are confirmed at scoping.

Does training satisfy our full POSH obligation?

No. Training is one stage of the compliance lifecycle; IC formation, external member appointment, and annual reporting are separate, ongoing obligations.
